Travel. Hike. Bike. Adventure. Explore.
This weekends adventure took us to New York to pick up Aka who is visiting from Australia! Given it was our last trip to the "Big Apple" before we leave the East Coast for Hawaii, we chose to do the things we have enjoyed most during our past visits!
Our first, very important stop was to FAO Schwarz ... the craziest, biggest toy store EVER! Three floors of every toy and game you can ever imagine with the ground floor largely dedicated to kids other favorite thing.... CANDY!
Next we were off to the High Line for a leisurely stroll! In 1934 the High Line (a rail line) opened to trains to carry goods to and from New York's largest industrial district. The last train operated in 1980 and over the next few decades the High Line was preserved and transformed into a large public space for locals and tourists alike. A lovely way to spend a Sunday morning and a must when visiting New York City!
For us, no visit to NYC is complete without a picnic and/or play in Central Park! This time we were lucky enough to meet friends and have a leisurely afternoon in the sun, playing football, blowing bubbles and enjoying the playground. Sitting and stopping can be very hard in such a bustling city like Manhattan but if you ever get the chance to spend an afternoon in the park you won't be disappointed... just stop and take it all in!
You ARE in NYC after all!
